iGUi even dogs love it, this joy is priceless!

Yesterday’s article on Dogs and Pools reminded me of a beautiful post made on the iGUi Blog on June 7, 2017 … enjoy tb !!!!

 This joy is priceless, but stay tuned to these tips to give your pet more security!

Some dog breeds love to swim, and in addition to being a healthy exercise, it can be a very fun game.

However, some care is essential to preserve the life and integrity of your best friend.

Before we start the tips, the ideal is that you check if the breed is the type that swims more easily, such as Labrador, Golden Retriever, Cocker Spaniel, Poodle, among others.

Some breeds tend to sink in the water, such as English Bulldog, Basset Hound, Maltese, Pekingese, Pug, Chow Chow and Shih Tzu. If your pet is one of these, better not to risk his life.

Now for the tips:

  • Never throw the animal directly into the water. He may even swim, on instinct, but he probably will not want to enter the water again due to trauma and fear;
  • Play toys that he is interested in in the pool and always have snacks when you go swimming with him;
  • Never leave your dog alone in the pool . The animal may have a cramp or, for any other reason, drown or have difficulty getting out of the water;
  • Keep the pool always covered or fenced to prevent accidents or to enter the water without you;
  • If the pool has ladder on the edge, it is ideal that it is always close to, eventually, guide the dog to it so that he feels safe and learns the exit quickly;
  • If you want to use the collar , the first few times, to be safer and avoid drowning, use the breastplate . Never use the choke, it can choke and run out of air;
  • Pay attention to the time: avoid entering the water at times of sun at peak , as the animal can become much more tired and irritable;
  • Be very patient, do not use an aggressive tone of voice or give physical punishment to him and allow him to get out of the water whenever he shows that he needs or wants;
  • Ideally, the dog should not use metal ladders , the vertical ones, which we always find in clubs. They are slippery, small for some breeds and can usually trap the animal between the steps;
  • Don’t ever force him . Some dogs do not like to swim and the ideal is that, after a try or two, he expresses if he is comfortable and likes it or wants to stop. If he wants to stop, don’t try again!

Following these tips and being careful to always be with him, with a lot of patience , the experience can be fun and very healthy.
